PHASE 1: INTRODUCTION

 Meet & Greet; discuss the background of your horse.

​PHASE 2:  STANDING INSPECTION

Start taking a look around the horse; new and old wounds, scars, blemishes, etc. Physically checking for any signs of soreness, swelling or skin and hair issues. Do a body scale inspection, hydration test, check digital pulse. Also taking pictures of all feet.

PHASE 3: MOVING INSPECTION

The horse is examined moving on a vertical and horizontal line. Moved to a small 15m circle extending onto a larger 30m circle. Horse will be evaluated at a multi number of body points for interuptions of fluid motion. Horse will be evaulated at a walk and trot if the horses' movement will allow.

PHASE 4: SPECTRUM OF USEABILITY  

The spectrum of usability is a tool used in the grading of the health of the horses hooves {1-10 1=bad, 10=good}. Eight structures of the foot are assigned a number, and an average is taken. That number is that individual foots’ usability grade. An average is taken from all four feet to determine the usability grade for the horse.
